From inventory to storefront: Introducing AeroProX Store
We are currently developing a closer integration between AeroProX Aircraft Maintenance and the AeroProX Store.
AeroProX already keeps structured information about parts, components and stock held by aircraft owners and organisations. The next step is to allow selected items from that inventory to be made available for sale through the AeroProX Store without having to recreate the same information in a separate product system.
FIG.01Aircraft maintenance inventories often contain a mixture of consumables, spare parts, removed components and individually tracked serialized items.
The new store integration is being designed to handle both common quantity-based stock and individually identified components.
When an inventory item is suitable for sale, relevant information can be used to create or connect it to a product in the store. The seller can then control whether the item is published, its price and its availability without changing the underlying technical inventory record.
The intention is to keep the maintenance and commercial sides connected while allowing each to retain its own purpose.
Rather than creating duplicate products for each seller, the AeroProX Store is being designed around a shared product catalogue where several sellers can make their own stock available under the same product.
This means that a customer searching for a particular part can see the product once and, where applicable, choose between available offers from different sellers.
The AeroProX Store will not be limited to items originating from Aircraft Maintenance.
Store-native products can also be created independently, making it possible to sell aircraft parts, tools, consumables, pilot equipment and other physical products that do not already exist as inventory records in AeroProX.
This allows the store to combine conventional catalogue products with parts and components made available directly from aircraft-related stock.
One of the ideas behind AeroProX is to avoid entering and maintaining the same technical information in several unrelated systems.
By connecting inventory with the storefront, a part that is already registered and managed in AeroProX can potentially become a sellable item without creating an entirely separate record and workflow.
For organisations with surplus aircraft parts or components, this can make it easier to make those items visible to other aircraft owners while retaining the technical context from which they originated.
The integration is currently under development and will be introduced progressively as the AeroProX Store evolves.
The store is also being developed to handle customer accounts, orders and fulfillment.
Where an order contains products supplied by different sellers, the order can be divided into separate fulfillment groups so that each seller's items can be packed and shipped independently while remaining part of the same customer order.
Shipment references and order status can then be recorded through the store administration.
Payment integration is being prepared as part of the architecture but will be introduced in a later stage.
